Well, It’s official!  The condo is booked and the dates are circled in red on our calendars.  We’re going to Panama City Beach for a wonderful, long weekend!  If you’d like to come along, I’ve got the details on a fantastic giveaway at the bottom of this post.

Friends, as I mentioned in my previous travel post, this trip to sunny Florida is coming at a perfect time.  It’s that time of the year when I become restless.  We’ve just enjoyed a long school break (Spring Break), we’ve tasted the freedom of not having to wake up early and make school lunches, and we are literally counting down the days until summer.   For me, the weeks between Spring Break and the end of school are the longest and I’m quite sure my daughter feels the same way too.

For the last several weeks, we’ve been planning our PCB vacation.  I’ve even started a new PCB Pinterest board where I’ve been pinning all things beach related and all of the activities we want to take advantage of while we’re there.  For me, planning a trip is part of the fun. Packing is another story.  I probably won’t do that until the day before.

When my husband and I began looking at hotels or places to stay in PCB, we found there were many options.  We started to narrow our choices down by focusing on places that were directly on the beach.  I had only a few requirements…

*  The hotel or condo had to be on the beach.  I wanted to be able to step out of our hotel or condo and be in the sand…literally.

*  I wanted an upper floor with a balcony so I could open up the sliding glass door during the day or evening and hear the sounds of the waves.

*  I wanted a kitchen so we could make a pot of coffee in the morning and not have to go out for food at every meal.

It turns out, finding a place to stay with everything I wanted wasn’t hard.  There are so many choices up and down the beach.  From beach cottages to condos to hotels, there’s something for everyone.

We began our search for our perfect place at the Panama City Beach website.  Here we were able to search for a condo or a hotel room anywhere in PCB.  If we enjoyed camping, we could have even looked for a campground or an RV park.

When we decided on staying at a condo, we were able to search available condos in PCB.  Through the website, we discovered Blue Sun Properties, one of the property management companies that handles condo rentals in the area.  We were able to go straight to their website and search particular condos that fit our needs.

After we found a place we liked, I cross checked through the website, VRBO (Vacation Rentals By Owners).  We were able to read reviews from other travelers and we could see pictures of the rooms inside the condos.  This was a huge help.  I like to see pictures and read reviews before I decide on where to stay.

We chose the Palazzo Condominiums because it met all of our requirements and the price was right. The condo sits directly on the beautiful white-sandy beach on the west side of PCB.  We chose a room overlooking the crystal-clear, emerald gulf waters.

We’ll enjoy lounging by the heated pool right on the gulf…

I love the fully equipped kitchen too.  I don’t plan on doing lots of cooking, but it’s perfect for eating breakfast in the morning and keeping that bottle of wine chilled during the day.

There is even a fitness room with windows overlooking the gulf…

We booked our condo directly through Blue Sun Properties and the process was simple.  After we confirmed that our dates were available and the price was in line with what we wanted to spend, we sent them an email requesting a reservation.  A few hours later, we received a confirmation.  It was so easy.

Since I write about food quite a bit on this blog, finding great places to eat while traveling is important to me.  In my previous PCB travel post, I wrote about a few of the places we wanted to visit but in researching further, I found several other places to add to my list.  I discovered a Farmers Market which will be open on Saturday and Sunday mornings which will be fun to browse through to pick up some fresh fruit while listening to local musicians.

Coffee and donuts are a great way to start mornings on vacation, Thomas Donuts is a short walk along the beach from our condo.  I’m already planning to take a nice early morning walk and pick up a dozen donuts to bring back to the condo before heading out to the market.

After a trip to the market, a visit to the Panama City Beach Winery sounds like the perfect place to pick up a bottle of Florida wine.

Another place I want to make sure to visit is Russell-Fields Pier.  It’s not far from where we’ll be staying.  This pier sits 1500 feet into the Gulf of Mexico.  You can fish off the pier if you want to or just walk out and enjoy the view.  Close by is a restaurant called Hook’d which features beachfront dining and an extensive selection of freshly caught seafood.

Now that we have our dates set, our condo booked and my PCB Pinterest board full of activities, we’re counting down the days until we leave.  Have I missed anything?  If you have any suggestions of places to visit while we’re there, please let me know in the comment section below.

Would you like to come too?  Does a visit to beautiful Panama City Beach sound like the perfect destination for you?

Panama City Beach is hosting a sweepstakes for a chance to win a free trip to Panama City Beach.  All you have to do is upload a photo of your current Point-of-View (#PCBPOV).  This could be sitting in traffic, bad weather, or anything else that makes you want to trade in your current situation to be at the beach.  Sounds fun, doesn’t it?  The trip will include airfare, accommodations and activity and/or dining vouchers for four people.

So go ahead, tell me…
